Victron Home Backup & Energy Storage

(30 products) FAQ

A Victron home backup system keeps your essentials running when the grid goes down. A MultiPlus-II or Quattro sits between the grid and your backed-up circuits, charging lithium batteries while the power is on and switching to battery power automatically in an outage. An autotransformer can supply 120/240V loads, Lynx distribution keeps the battery wiring tidy and fused, and a Cerbo GX shows the whole system at a glance. Connection to your home's panel should be done by a licensed electrician.

Frequently Asked Questions

Victron Home Backup & Energy Storage Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How does a Victron home backup system switch over in an outage?

The MultiPlus-II or Quattro passes grid power through to your backed-up circuits and keeps the batteries charged. If the grid fails, its built-in transfer switch moves those circuits to battery power automatically.

Q. Do I need an autotransformer?

Most Victron 120V inverter/chargers supply a single 120V leg. To run 240V loads such as a well pump, a Victron autotransformer can create a 120/240V split-phase supply. Systems with two or more inverter/chargers can also be set up for split phase.

Q. Can I install a home backup system myself?

Connecting to your home's electrical panel must be done by a licensed electrician and may need a permit. Our team can help you choose the right components.
