In Georgia Straight the Coho fishing continues to be great! The clipped fish are still running very shallow. Keep your gear in the top 30ft of water. If you drop below 50ft you will be catching Chinook. There are however some big Chinook showing up all of the sudden. French Creek has been a hotspot for these big boys. The Winchelsea Islands, Entrance Island and Five Fingers have loads of the Coho right now. They are often moving into very shallow water following the bait. So try fishing 25ft down in 60ft of water. Small spoons like 3" Cookies and Cream match the bait perfectly right now. Needlefish and squirt hoochies are also very effective for the Coho. Use either Blue Meanie Needlefish Hoochie or Purple UV Fish Candy Flash Flies.Â
The reports from Alberni Sockeye have been incredible this week. With people getting their limits on the evening bite as well as the morning. The key for Sockeye is lot's of flashers. And keeping at least one flasher in the water at all times. The Sointula flasher is your best bet for a dummy flasher. It puts out a lot of flash. For Sockeye lures we have a great price on our pre-rigged Radiant Bubble Gum Sockeye Hoochies if you need a good hoochie and don't have time to tie your own. I might wait until after the rain passes to go for Sockeye. They always do better on sunny days. Hopefully by Saturday it will dry up.
Luckily the Chinook fishing on the west Coast is heating up, so for the next few days target them. The top lures have continued to be big turd hoochies like West Coast Brown Splatter, and small spoons like Silver Horde Coho Killers like White Lightning.
