Chinook is Open in the Strait of Georgia!!

Chinook season has kicked off for Georgia Strait fishermen and the initial reports are great! We have been seeing lots of Chinook from 50ft to 230ft lately. The best location seems to be Entrance Island with one guide reporting 40 fish to the boat. Five Fingers, Thrasher Rock and French Creek also are doing well. The standout lures have been our new custom designed Godzilla and Punisher spoons.

The top flashers have been the new Peacock Blue which has been working for Coho and Chinook, and Chrome Zone which has been very good in Barkley Sound.

It's been a mix of bait sizes lately. There are big mature herring out at Entrance, and small bait in close. So you could run a large plug if you are in the mature herring. Try classic 602 or the new Sparkle Herring plug for Chinook.

On the West Coast it has slowed down a little bit for Chinook. Although the Alberni Sockeye has been very good. Sockeye will start to decline soon, and the Chinook should pick up again. Top lure for the Chinook there has consistently been Storm and Superman mini spoons from West Coast Tackle. We have them both in stock again. I've sold out of the Storm several times already this year.

Tips up! 🎣
