The Victron SmartSolar MPPT 150/60-MC4 charge controller is installed between photovoltaic modules and the battery bank, allowing the system to harvest and convert solar energy as efficiently as possible. Using ultra-fast Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technology, it continuously optimizes voltage and current to ensure maximum energy yield from your solar array under all conditions.

The Victron SmartSolar MPPT controller improves energy harvest by up to 30% compared to PWM controllers and up to 10% compared to slower MPPT controllers, particularly during variable light conditions such as cloud cover. Its ultra-fast tracking ensures the controller responds instantly to changes in sunlight, delivering faster and more consistent charging.

In situations where partial shading occurs, multiple power peaks may appear on the power-voltage curve. Conventional MPPT controllers can lock onto a local maximum that is not optimal. The SmartSolar controller’s advanced Maximum Power Point Detection algorithm always locks onto the true optimum power point, ensuring the highest possible energy harvest from the solar array.

This SmartSolar charge controller includes built-in Bluetooth connectivity, allowing remote monitoring, control, and firmware updates using a smartphone or other Bluetooth-enabled device through the VictronConnect application. It can also integrate with Victron GX devices or a computer for expanded system management.

An internal temperature sensor automatically compensates charging voltage based on battery temperature, protecting battery health and extending service life. The controller is equipped with extensive electronic protection against overheating, short circuits, polarity reversal, and reverse current from the solar modules. If internal temperatures exceed safe limits, output current is automatically reduced to protect the system.
