UNI Soft Wire is a flexible, non-tarnishing fly-tying wire designed for ribbing, segmented bodies and direct dubbing on nymphs, streamers and other subsurface patterns. Offered in Small (.008"), Medium (.011") and Large (.016") sizes, UNI Soft Wire wraps easily and adds subtle weight and long-lasting shine to tied flies for freshwater fly-tying projects.

Key Features

  • Available Sizes: Small (.008"), Medium (.011"), Large (.016") — precise sizing for ribbing and body applications.
  • Non-Tarnishing Finish: Protective coating keeps color bright and reduces oxidation for longer-lasting segmented effects.
  • Flexible & Easy to Wrap: Softer than UNI-French wire, ideal for direct-dubbing techniques and delicate materials where ease of wrapping is important.

Fly tyers choose UNI Soft Wire for its balance of flexibility, appearance and handling. UNI works well alone for direct-dubbing or paired with dubbing and tinsel to create realistic segmentation and added weight in flies. Hareline distributes UNI Soft Wire in a wide range of colors to match natural and attractor patterns, and the soft construction makes it especially useful for detailed nymphs and streamer profiles.
