The Original MacDeep is a 150g handcrafted salmon and bottom fish jig, proven on the water and built for consistent results.
Rig it with a chain or ball-bearing swivel between the leader and main line. Suggested leader length is 3 to 6 feet for jigging, 2 to 3 feet for spin casting, and 2 to 4 feet for trolling.
Lower the MacDeep to the depth where fish are feeding, raise the rod tip 3 to 4 feet, then quickly lower it to let the lure free-fall. Most strikes happen on the drop — when you feel a strike, give the line a firm pull and start playing your fish.
Drop the MacDeep to the bottom, raise it about 2 feet, and begin jigging. Most strikes occur within 5 feet of the bottom. On smooth, sandy bottoms, flatfish will take the MacDeep as it lies still or is gently hopped.

A friend gave me 3 of these back in the 90's. They were absolute salmon and other fish slaying machines!!! Cabezon, one of my personal favorites couldn't resist them. My son had the last one and would only use that lure when we went fishing! No one else could use it....LOL Alas like all lures, 1 by 1 they were lost to snags and the last to a sand shark! He literally cried when it was lost, and also all confidence in catching salmon after it was gone. He was around 9 or 10 when it was taken by the shark. I looked all over and could never find a dealer and finally kinda forgot about them. Fast forward to 2026 and the age of internet! I remembered them when discussing hot jigs with a friend. Typed in the name and there they were!!! I was very excited and immediately purchased a half dozen. Hoping I can rekindle my son to try salmon fishing again with showing him what I found!!!! Side note: I sent him a picture of the jig and he immediately texted back MACDEEP! I can't believe as he is now 39 that he remembered the name of it? Shows what an impact it had and I even got him to commit to a trip fishing again.
