Spirit River UV2 Elk Hair is a fly tying material treated with Spirit River's UV2 double-dye technology to increase visibility and flotation for dry flies and streamer collars. This elk hair is designed to reflect ultraviolet wavelengths fish can detect, helping trout locate your patterns more readily. Packs are commonly sold in 4 oz sizes suitable for frequent tiers.

Key Features

  • UV2 Double-Dye: Proprietary treatment adds UV reflectance and fluorescence to improve underwater visibility.
  • Premium Elk Hair: Long, stiff guard hairs provide buoyancy and realistic profile for dry flies, hoppers, collars and baitfish patterns.
  • Easy to Tie: Consistent fiber length and texture separate and stack well, making spinning, trimming and stacking straightforward for all skill levels.

Spirit River UV2 Elk Hair is ideal for trout-oriented flies and versatile enough for streamers and baitfish patterns. The UV2 treatment increases contrast under a range of light conditions, making your flies more attractive in both clear and stained water. Because elk hair is naturally buoyant, it helps flies ride high on the surface while maintaining a convincing profile, reducing the need for added floatant on many dry patterns.
