The Simrad AP48 shares the same intuitive interface as the compact AP44, but adds a larger rotary control dial, dedicated dodge keys and an extended keypad for full autopilot control.
Dodge keys let you make instant one-degree or ten-degree heading changes at the press of a button, and the AP48's large buttons are built for use with wet or gloved hands. An optically bonded display eliminates condensation and fogging, while Transflective LCD technology improves daytime visibility and reduces power draw compared to a standard backlit screen.
Built-in turn patterns, No Drift Steering and Depth Contour Tracking give the AP48 the same advanced autopilot features as the AP44. Its low-profile glass helm design has a flush-mount depth of just eight millimetres excluding the dial, and it can also be bracket mounted.
A compatible autopilot computer, drive unit, heading sensor and other hardware are required to build a complete Simrad autopilot system. No Drift steering also requires an NMEA 2000® connected GPS receiver, and Depth Contour Tracking requires a compatible echosounder module.
