Scientific Anglers Scandi Floating Head - Black/Butter is a floating shooting head designed for smooth, efficient spey casting when targeting salmon, steelhead, and trout. Built for anglers who want easy turnover with smaller flies, this Scientific Anglers Scandi head delivers clean presentation, reliable loop stability, and excellent control in freshwater rivers. The Black/Butter color scheme also makes the line easy to identify on the water.

Key Features

  • Floating Scandi Design: Ideal for casting smaller salmon and steelhead flies with a light, controlled presentation.
  • High-Contrast Sighter: Helps identify the back of the head for easier rigging and more consistent casting performance.
  • Braided Multifilament Core: Provides dependable handling and performance in moderate and cold climates.

Scientific Anglers developed this Scandi floating head for anglers who want an easy-casting spey line that performs well under a wide range of conditions. It can be paired with 10-foot Sonar leaders to help adjust swing depth, making it a versatile option for changing runs, current speeds, and fly sizes. Whether you are fishing for Atlantic salmon or steelhead, the compact head design helps load the rod efficiently and turn over cleanly.

Available in multiple grain weights, the Scientific Anglers Scandi series is suited to different rod sizes and casting styles. This freshwater spey line is a strong choice for anglers looking for a floating shooting head with practical visibility, dependable construction, and proven performance for salmon and steelhead fishing.
