The Reef downrigger/mooching rods are classic west coast actions made from hi-modulus graphite scrim with epoxy resin to make the durability of these rods outstanding. We use a genuine Fuji reel seat with a cork foregrip and a slick butt to ensure that even under load it is easy to remove the rod from the rod holder. The guide inserts wrap around the frame to ensure there are no insert pop outs, even after many seasons of use. They have lots of backbone to fight the big ones!

Great buy so far!

We bought these to replace the 9'-6" TDR rods we had been using, and wowee what a difference. Playing fish with these rods is a significantly better experience, and was definitely worth while. They look great, and the hard lower portion to the handle makes it really easy for my kids to remove from the rod holder without a challenge and get straight to fighting the fish. The 9' length is perfect to fish out of our 16' double eagle, and compared to 10'-6" rods makes for a better experience in the tight quarters. Definitely a good buy so far!
