Hareline Flashabou Original is a versatile metallic flash material designed for fly tying. This ultra-fine tinsel adds lively shimmer and subtle motion to streamers, nymphs and saltwater patterns, helping your flies attract attention in both clear and stained water. Hareline's Flashabou is widely used by fly tiers for tails, skirting, ribbing and body accents when a reflective, durable flash is needed.

Key Features

  • Micro-Thin Metallic Fibers: Ultra-fine tinsel (approx 1/69 in wide) for natural movement and reflective flash.
  • Strand Count & Length: Approximately 1,700 strands per pack; standard packs commonly contain ~10 in strands (double-length 20 in packs are also offered).
  • Wide Color Range: Available in many colors including Sunburst for high-contrast flash in both freshwater and saltwater flies.
  • Easy to Use: Bonds well with tying thread, glues, epoxy and UV resin for durable heads and finished flies.

Hareline Flashabou Original gives fly tiers a simple way to boost visibility and imitate life-like scale flash. Use it as skirting material on large streamers, add subtle sparkle to nymphs, or rib bodies for extra contrast — especially effective in low light or turbulent water. The fine tinsel layers easily under dubbing or over bodies and works well with epoxy or UV resins for long-lived flies.
