The Hareline Flashabou Original is a versatile fly tying material that adds shimmering, marabou-like motion and metallic flash to streamers, nymphs and saltwater patterns. Ideal for fly tiers working on freshwater trout flies or aggressive saltwater streamers, this Hareline pack delivers long, reflective mylar strands that mimic baitfish scales and trigger strikes. Hareline distributes the original Hedron formula in a broad range of colors, including Kelly Green.

Key Features

  • Strand Count & Size: Approximately 1700 strands, 1/69" wide by 10" long for excellent coverage.
  • Lifelike Motion: Flexible mylar strands move like marabou for natural movement in the water.
  • Versatile Use: Use for tails, wings, body wraps and ribbing on both saltwater and freshwater patterns.
  • Color Range: Wide selection including metallics, pearls and mirage finishes for matching hatch or added flash.
  • Compact Pack: Lightweight retail pack (~10 g) fits easily in your fly-tying kit.

Whether you're tying streamers, deceivers or small nymphs, Flashabou is easy to tie and control. Fly tiers choose Hareline Flashabou for its consistent strand width and long lengths that allow multiple uses per pack. The reflective strands can be used sparingly for a subtle flash or bundled for high-visibility patterns, making it a go-to material for saltwater flats work and freshwater bass and trout flies. The material pairs well with Hareline synthetic fibers, marabou and standard ribbing wire or tinsel.
