Hareline Calf Tail is a natural fly tying material prized for lifelike wings, tails and throats in both freshwater and saltwater patterns. This calf tail (also called kiptail) is cleaned and prepped by Hareline to remove oils and deliver consistent, long fibers that tie easily into streamers, Wulff wings, salmon and steelhead flies, and bonefish patterns. Hareline's color range lets tiers match subtle naturals or create high-visibility accents.
Fly tiers choose Hareline because the fibers are consistent, easy to stack or blend with dubbing, and compatible with standard tying thread, adhesives, head cement and epoxy. Use Calf Tail for small to large streamers that need a natural profile, for wide-wing dry fly patterns, or as throat and wing material on saltwater bonefish flies. Hareline Calf Tail is especially useful when you need fibers that hold shape after tying and take pigment evenly to the root.
