Hareline Cactus Chenille is a versatile chenille fly-tying material designed to add shaggy, translucent bodies with pearlescent flash to streamers, woolly buggers, nymphs and jigs. Made by Hareline Dubbin, this cactus-style chenille provides lifelike movement and subtle sparkle that performs well in both freshwater and saltwater patterns.

Key Features

  • Shaggy Texture: Long, fibrous strands create realistic bodies and baitfish profiles.
  • Pearlescent Flash: Integrated pearlescent fibers add a subtle shimmer without overpowering the profile.
  • Versatile Sizes & Colors: Available in Medium and Large diameters and many color options including Minnow Blue #234.
  • Durable Synthetic: Resists water absorption and fraying for long-lasting fly bodies.

Hareline Cactus Chenille is ideal for underbodies, hollow ties, minnow imitations and jig bodies where texture and translucency enhance movement. Fly tyers choose Hareline materials for consistent color matches and tieability—the cactus style lays easily on the hook shank and layers well under ribbing or as a sparse body. It also takes adhesives and epoxy heads cleanly for durable streamer construction. The material is commonly used for streamers, woolly buggers, saltwater patterns and even jig skirts for bass and panfish.
