The reports from the West side of the Island are finely heating up!
I'm getting excellent reports from Tofino/Ucluelet and Port Renfrew. The Alberni Inlet is starting to see more fish, and there are fish all the way up to China Creek now. Bamfield is also very good, but accesses is limited due to the fire.
The bait has gotten a bit bigger so larger lures like Northern King Glow Blue Cop Car spoon have been working well. The other top pattern has been West Coast Tackles Phat-E spoon Cool Running.
The top flasher lately on the West side has been West Coast Tackles Fusion Glow X in Luminate blue.
In Georgia Strait it's been hard to get a read as the wind kept everyone off the water for the start of the week. Campbell River down to Parksville has sounded a bit slower from the few reports I got. Nanaimo still sounds very good at Entrance Island and Thrasher Rock. for mid teen Chinook and Coho. I also had two excellent reports from Five Finger Island and Neck point area. Half the reports were saying it was better deep, around 180ft for nice Chinook. But the rest are saying shallow close to shore, which is normal for this time of year. Several very big Chinook have come shallow in about 80ft of water at Neck Point.
The top lures locally have been our custom modified Chartreuse UV Moonjelly Skinny G #GIB-300SAF2 and our new Harbour Chandler Gold Squiggle Skinny G. The best flashers have been Hit 'n Run and Silver Super Herring Aid.
Plugs are also still working very well, especially for targeting large Chinook. Tomic Tubby 602UV has been the one I hear about the most. Remember plugs are fished without a flasher. A dummy flasher is fine, just not on the mainline. Also troll a bit faster with plugs.
Tips up!
