While the bite is still better early in the day there is starting to be more action later in the day. Early season sees things dry up as soon as the sun hits the water, but with the cooler temperatures the salmon, steelhead and trout are becoming more active.Ā
For salmon in the rivers spinners likeĀ Blue Fox Vibrax in Nickle, green/chartreuseĀ andĀ Hot ChartreuseĀ Flying C'sĀ have been the top producers.Ā Gibbs Koho casting spoons in Herring AidĀ are also coming into their own, withĀ
Ā In the ocean we are still having good Coho fishing around Nanaimo and some really good reports from the Port Renfrew area. Coho killers in orange likeĀ Skinny G OutfitterĀ andĀ Goldstar Glow Black Two-FaceĀ have caught the most fish.
Also there are already plenty of winter springs showing up off French Creek, Sangster Reef and Entrance Island. These fish are feeding heavily and are easy to get to bite. Small glow white spoons likeĀ Goldstar Cookies and CreamĀ andĀ Phat-e Ghost WhiteĀ paired withĀ Oki Green PhantomĀ orĀ Gibbs Watermark White flashersĀ work for these smaller Chinook
