Lingcod season ends September 30th in our area. So now's you last chance to get some white meat. Overall the Ling fishing around Nanaimo has been steadily improving for the last decade. These fast growing and breeding fish are easy to catch and personally I believe they are even tastier than Halibut. If you want to get them head out to Entrance Island reef or any rocky reef and try some of the great new Ling lures. The best lures this year have been the new 3D Burbot Tubes, and the Savage Gear Wake Snake. These are best trolled. If you want to jig use P-Line Kodiak Jigs or Sweet Georgia Brown Swimbaits.
The salt water season for Chinook and Coho is winding down and the beach and river season is about to take off. But there are still monster Chinook and plenty of Coho in there ocean, for now anyway. They are still holding in shallow water near structure. See last weeks report for the details. 5-6" blue plugs and also white hoochies have been taking the big boys. Raspberry/Gold flashers are still the top colour. And our customer designed HC Raspberry Gold Mirror is the best of the bunch right now.
Also I'm always looking for photos and reports. So if you can help with that please email me at the address below. And and a big thank you to the guys that have been sending them to me.
Tips up!
