The wind finally let off Wednesday evening and the guys that went out loaded up on Coho. Thursday morning also was great with everyone I talked to getting their limit of clipped Coho. Five fingers and Entrance island were hot. I don't have a report from Thrasher Rock or French Creek yet, but I expect it's just as good. Comox is also doing well, but Campbell River reports have been a bit slow.
Top Coho lures have been Koho Kings in Herring Aid, and 3.0 Big Eye Party Girl spoons. Pair either of these with our custom designed Blue Mirror Coho Flasher.
The Coho have been from 0 to 150ft down, but around 100ft has been best. The amount of clipped ones is very good, and they are averaging 4-6lbs
It's also Sockeye salmon time very soon in Alberni. I think it should kick off next weekend, and should be hot by the first week of July. We have some great Sockeye multi flasher setups like the Crucifish and the Sontula flasher. They are not online yet but we have them in-store. Email me if you want one. This multi flasher setups work for all salmon, but are dynamite for Sockeye. Pair them with classic Sockeye hoochies like a bubblegum pink MP15.
Commercial prawning season ended early this year and there was very little pressure in the mid-island area. This is great news for Nanaimo prawn fishermen. So if anyone does any prawning soon send me a report.
Tips up!
