Nice fat Chinook and the big Coho often called northern Coho are showing up in Georgia Strait! I'm not sure if they are actually northern fish or our local Coho that have gotten bigger, but long story short it is big fish time. Many of the Coho are in the 9-15lb range with some up to 15-16lb. Entrance Island has been the place to be for these guys. Trolling Homeland Security Coho Killers and Herring Aid Loony Spoons have been getting it done.
In tight to and around reef and rocks jigging was working well. The slow pitch jiggers were as good as the fast jiggers last night. Shimano Butterfly jigs in Chartreuse did well for the Coho.
Trolling deep is still your best bet for springs. No Bananas and Irish Cream have been the top spoons, and big Tomic plugs have also taken some good fish.
It is time to gear up for river fishing season. Most rivers are a bit too warm still, but that is about to change. It's pouring rain right now so this weekend should be the start of good fishing.
