Frequently Asked Questions
Boat Seats Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What types of boat seats are available?
Boat seats include low-back seats, high-back seats, captain’s chairs, folding seats, and suspension seats. Each style is designed for different comfort levels and boating conditions.
Q. What is the best boat seat for fishing?
For fishing, high-back seats and captain’s chairs are popular because they provide better support during long days on the water. Suspension seats are ideal for rough conditions and high-speed boats.
Q. How do I choose the right boat seat?
Choose a boat seat based on your boat size, mounting setup, and how you use it. Consider comfort, seat height, back support, and whether you need a swivel or pedestal mount.
Q. Are boat seats universal?
Many boat seats use standard mounting patterns, but not all are universal. Always check compatibility with your pedestal, swivel, or mounting plate before purchasing.
Q. What is the difference between low-back and high-back boat seats?
Low-back seats are compact and ideal for smaller boats, while high-back seats provide more support and comfort for longer trips and rougher water conditions.
Q. Are these boat seats suitable for saltwater use?
Yes, most boat seats are built with marine-grade vinyl, foam, and corrosion-resistant hardware to handle both freshwater and saltwater environments.
Q. Do boat seats come with mounting hardware?
Some boat seats include mounting hardware, while others require separate pedestals or bases. Check product details to confirm what is included.
Q. Are boat seats easy to install?
Most boat seats are designed for easy installation using standard mounting patterns. They can typically be installed on existing pedestals or bases with basic tools.
Q. Do you sell boat seats in Canada?
Yes, Harbour Chandler offers a wide range of boat seats in Canada, including options for fishing boats, cruisers, and inflatables, with local pickup available in Nanaimo.
Q. Can I get help choosing the right boat seat?
Yes, our team at Harbour Chandler can help you choose the right boat seat based on your setup, comfort preferences, and type of boating on Vancouver Island.

Steve is a awesome salesman at Harbor Chandler. Steve's patients and abilities to make the sale over the phone or Email makes me come back time and time. This is my third purchase and I will be back again to work with Steve. Steve is not just a salesman but also a fellow fish slayer.
Thanks again for everything.

Hootchie of the Week!
Got this beautiful green beast, and used it on a low light/overcast day. With a pinched barb, the hootchie took about thirty five minutes to get into the groove, then got our first few hits! Excelent for a NON-retention Linga!
