Frequently Asked Questions
Box Crab Traps for BC Waters – Heavy-Duty & Reliable Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is a box crab trap?
A box crab trap is a rigid, heavy-duty trap designed for maximum durability and consistent catches, commonly used in deeper water or stronger currents.
Q. Why choose a box crab trap over a folding trap?
Box traps are more stable on the bottom, handle currents better, and generally produce higher catch rates over longer soak times.
Q. Are box crab traps better for deep water?
Yes, their weight and structure help keep them in place, making them ideal for deeper water and tidal areas around Vancouver Island.
Q. How long can you leave a box crab trap in the water?
Box traps are well-suited for longer soak times, often several hours, depending on local regulations and conditions.
Q. Are box crab traps worth it?
For serious crabbers, box traps are a reliable, long-term investment due to their durability and higher performance in demanding conditions.

Steve Vavrik
Steve, is a asset to this company!! He was so very patient and took the time to explain the different reels and poles.
I have already made a second purchase and again the transaction went through Steve.
All future purchases will be though steve. I live in Washington and have to pay duty but it's well worth it. It's true you get what you pay for.
Please be sure to forward this to Steve so he continues to Awesome!!
